Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. She was born in Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of school when her parents divorced to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. It was a struggle to make ends meet and was offered her first role in acting in Rachel's Room's main character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive a Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the lead actress in Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace left the television series in 2005 to focus on an even more prominent role in films, having appeared in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. Grace has been on Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 as well as in Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is a modern version that the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace performed the role of Shannon on the final episode and two other episodes. In 2013, she was in the sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith who's both the star-gazer and a groupie. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family, and is the older cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager She began working on small roles with her father. She was also in Donnie Darko along with her brother. Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and in the romance comedy Secretary (2002). The two films received acclaim from critics. Following several commercially-successful films, such as World Trade Center in 2006 her fame grew when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). For her performance as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years she was a part of comedies as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Her other characters include as a secret agent for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer for Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared as a singer in Frank 2014 and also the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the main character. Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021, with the psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
